It's our world. If we believe climbing a mountain or raising a monument has meaning in form, we but experience the effects of that decision. We can't leave a mark on the world from within it and hope to escape the judgment that made it so. We change the world by changing our mind about the world. All things are worthwhile when given to this shifted purpose.

Great thought. What many miss is that we leave our mark on this world in so many ways each and every day! The question is not do we leave our mark on this world the question is what kind of mark do we leave.

Very right. A man is not known and remembered by the stones planted in his memory, but in the place he once held when he was alive. The most permanent memory is the place left vacant in our lives when he leaves, and which might never be filled by someone else.

i think we can make our mark in the world in unrecognizable ways. random acts of kindness, compassion, empathy... these leave marks on individuals that sometimes are more powerful than climbing that mountain or raising a monument.
