The Purpose Of Life

If we don't know what we are living for, then we are at war with ourselves."

A man dreamed of becoming the powerful ruler of the land.By schemes and by battles he achieved his goal. But shortly after taking power he felt strangely depressed and irritated.

He consulted a wise man who told him, "While battling for power you thought you knew who you were and your purpose of life. For instance, you called yourself the leader of a great social crusade. But by winning your goal you lost your self-advertising.

You are now depressed because you no longer know who you are and your real purpose of life.

The ultimate purpose that the soul yearns for is oneness with God. "

  1. Knowing oneself is the greatest challenge for anyone. Apparently, we presume that we know ourselves. But the day we really know ourselves we'll have the feeling of oneness with God.
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful post.

  3. Surjit, being oneness with God is everyday challenge for human being. There's no ending for the oneness. Unless we are ready to devote, leave behind what we have in this world, then at that time we can be in oneness with God.

    Bless you

  5. Hallos Surjit,

Indeed, having a good and a sense of purpose in life is as important as a compass to orientate in the jungle of life.

A clear conscience to be in one with God no matter how form you perceive it to be is one noble goal.

It's good to read such a post to anchor oneself as one sits down to think of one's direction in the coming year.

    Happy New Year, Surjit!

  13. For the longest time I have searched for my purpose in life. Each morning I woke up asking myself is this it? Is this the life I am meant to live? And out of nowhere I was given clarity, my path has always been there laid out for me since birth but sometimes I chose to diverse...now I am on the right track and always praying that each change that I make in my life pleases Him the most.

    Lovely post Surjit as always.
