Everything I Needed

I asked for strength and
God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom and
God gave me problems to solve.

I asked for prosperity and
God gave me brawn and brains to work.
I asked for courage and
God gave me dangers to overcome.

I asked for patience and
God placed me in situations where I was forced to wait.
I asked for love and
God gave me troubled people to help.

I asked for favors and
God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted
I received everything I needed.
My prayers have all been answered.

  1. What a unique way of looking at all problems we face in our lives. All these are the moments when we grumble the most but in reality they are the stepping stones to leading a fruitful and a worthy life.

  4. This poem reminds me of the old adage "be careful what you ask for"... but what an excellent way to truly experience these qualities you wish to enrich in your life. God has a funny way of knowing just what we need...

  9. This is exactly the thing we don't always want to see that the miracle we look for outside, is one being cultivated within.
