I Asked God

I asked God to take away my pain.
God said No..
It is not for me to take away,
but for you to it give up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said No..
His spirit is whole, His body is only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said No..
Patience is a by-product of tribulations;
It is not granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said No..
I give you blessings,
happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare the pain.
God said No..
Suffering draws you apart from wordly cares
and brings you closer to me.....
I asked God to make my spirit grow,
God said No..
You must grow on your own,
I will prune you to make you fruitful
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy.
God said No..
I will give you life so that you enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others
as much as You love me.
God said...Ahhh,
at last, you have the idea..

  2. beautiful post Surjit......
love has got great power indeed.loving more and getting more love doesn't make a person bad but definitely less loved
persons are sad ....love fully ,unconditionally and without judgement......love is agony and exctasy both.

  3. There is so much wisdom in this post!

This is surely the most valuable prayer- asking God to help us love as much as He does.

    Thank you.

    Hugs,

  7. So beautifully truth and wise, is clear that humans came to this world to learn to love, and we need the pain and suffering to bring us close to God and our inner high self and Love, we can just be One with God then will be safe

  11. Greetings surjit...

There is a sweetness about you, a gentleness of Spirit that is undeniable to all those of us with eyes to see.

I ask a simple question really...

Are you sure God said "no" or did God perhaps say "know"?

And I ask simply in Light of your stated Desire of "know-ledge".

Ever noticed how the idea of being "at one with God", requires BELIEVING we are separate to begin with?

    Namaste,

    Sue Ann

  12. Welcome Sueannedwards,
You have raised a very crucial question:
'..how the idea of being "at one with God", requires BELIEVING we are separate to begin with?..'
This question is not relevent to blessed people like you who are aware that they are always one with The Almighty.
Perhaps it relates to me who, with little knowledge, often forgets this Universal Truth.
    I admire your insights.
    God bless.
