"Two seeds lay side by side in the fertile soil.
The first seed said, "I want to grow! I want to send my roots deep into the soil beneath me, and thrust my sprouts through the earth's crust above me ... I want to unfurl my tender buds like banners to announce the arrival of spring ... I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the blessing of the morning dew on my petals!"
And so it grew...
The second seed said, "I am afraid. If I send my roots into the ground below, I don't know what I will encounter in the dark. If I push my way through the hard soil above me I may damage my delicate sprouts ... what if I let my buds open and a snail tries to eat them? And if I were to open my blossoms, a small child may pull me from the ground. No, it is much better for me to wait until it is safe."
And so it waited...
A yard hen scratching around in the early spring ground for food found the waiting seed and promptly ate it.
Moral of the Story: Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life..

I agree completely. No risk, no gain. ;-D Even though we risk something and it doesn't work out well, we will always learn more things by doing than by sitting still in our little comfort zone.

John 12:24-26 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. (25) He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. (26) If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

they say better to live as a tiger for a day then a sheep for a whole life.
to surrender, is not a weakness--it is relieving oneself of the fear.
most are too scared to die and the others too scared too live....
living is what one does before one dies.
embracing life is making the most out of all the opportunities that come our way and in the process we take a risk on life.
to focus on what is not( the fear) is a definate waste of time., but then all must be put in perspective and each individual is joined in the quest of learning the lessons, with different intensities.

ReplyDeleteWe have to take risks in life otherwise we won't grow. A leaf goes through many transformations before it can be fully developed. We too go through a series of transformations before we can be fully realized.

Can't agree more than you. Since we were a child, realized it or not, we've been dealing with "risk". Walk, Run, are the 1st experience to deal with "risk".
ReplyDeleteBut, as a grown up person, the 'risk' is more than just able to walk or to run. There's more than that.
The only way to fight, to deal with the risk, is by knowing the purpose of our life, the goal of our life. Besides surrender all to the Him.

ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful and inspiring way to twach us about fear of living.
One of my favorite songs has this line in it: "Often times I want to walk on the safe side of the street." and, I think for many of us the safe side of the street can be a trap.
The other lyric or actually the chorus she sings out "I want to be touched by the sun/Som....I am not actually positive how she has written on paper but in my mind when I hear those words from that chorus I sing them out loud and I mean our Lord Jesus.
Thank you for such a delightful way to tell us not to fear our own lives.
