REST

Rest does not come with sleeping, it comes with waking. This is both an insight and an action of enlightenment. When we are enlightened we realise that real rest is possible only when we become free of illusion and we no longer struggle against life.
Illusion is the idea that people should be, and do, what we want them to.
The truth is, all is as it should be, despite appearances or our perceptions of others to the contrary.
This means you can be easy on yourself, easy with others and easy with the world around you. Easiness is a virtue...... And it’s extremely relaxing!
Do you agree?

  1. Hi Surjit,

Indeed, when we could not find peace within, we won't be able to have a real rest! That's why those people who resolve to sleeping pills won't really have good rest!

Let's learn to take it easy and enjoy that virtue!

    Surjit, thanks for this wisdom.

    Blessings

  3. Believing that we can maintain control over what happens in our life or the lives of others is indeed the ultimate illusion, Surjit. While we may have choices, each path lies within the framework of the bigger plan that we do not see or control. If we flow with life instead of fighting against it, we will indeed find peace within. I have a rock on which is enscribed... "Life is not a problem to solve, it is a mystery to experience."

  12. ABSOLUTELY agree! Actually I had been struggling with it these past few days and today I've finally found the rest I truly need.

I hope I can continue to be easy on myself, others, and the world around me. Sometimes it's not easy to do, though he he he...

Surjit, It is indeed very hard to let go of our expectaions of how other people should be, rather accepting them as they are.

  16. i believe you are right, there should first be inner peace before you could really rest, in all the essence of the word.

Resting one's body isn't the same as resting one's mind. =) nice post Surjit. thank you for sharing.

Indeed, when our minds are free from attachments and selfish desires, we naturally adopt a state of inner ease.

  20. Surjitji rest is a state if the mind and soul not merely body.

Illusion is believing in false reality.

Easiness is a virtue as long as we a valid reason to be easy. Confronting the wrongs in ourselves and others takes courage and spiritual strength and God 's grace.Easiness is not good if we overlook the darkness around us and do nothing about it.

But on the other hand an easy-going person is someone who is easy to get along with is a real gift and we should try to be that.
