Keep The Window Clean

"An old man who lived all alone in his house complained to the neighbour woman that his eye sight had grown weak and that as he looked out from his window he could not see the beauty of the outside world .
The woman found that the window panes were covered with dust and dirt. She cleansed them with soap and water. The old man was delighted that he could see as clearly as ever
.
"It was not your eyesight had grown dim," the woman said to him."You allowed your windows to get dirty."
May we never allow the windows of our soul to get dirty and we shall never lose sight of God...."

Do you agree?

  1. Hi Surjit!!

Yes!! Past experience and encounters, upbringing, knowledge... if not well-used .. only serve to taint our souls just like how Dust blurs out the beauty on the other side of the window.

  3. Hello, I guess all the dissapointments and broken dreams of life make us build up a layer of protection against further hurts. If we are not careful, that layer could become a barrier thick enough to stop the light of leanrning flowing in...like a dirty window. Then we cannot see The Divine in anything ! Thanks Surjit, this reminds me not to allow myself to become too cynical...and also..My real life windows also need a good clean :)

  4. Hi Jesse,
    Very truthful words:
'....If we are not careful, that layer could become a barrier thick enough to stop the light of leanrning flowing in...like a dirty window...'
Thanks for adding your insights to my post making it more meaningful.

  5. Ahhhh...another deep story.

I wonder though, what happened to Mother Teresa...she didn't feel God's presence for years. What do you make of it? I read that other people sometimes feel that way. Even Jesus felt that God had forsaken Him when He was at the cross.

Have you read the news? Here's the link:

  6. Hi Amel's Realm,
Yes, I have read it now.
'...she didn't feel God's presence for years.... '
'..Even Jesus felt that God had forsaken Him when He was at the cross. ...'
This usually happens when one loses 'unshakable' faith in Him. When Buddha, after many years of meditating in His name, did not realize enlightenment, was upset and said to God,"O Lord,I have meditated on your Name through out my life, I can't do it any more.. Now it is up to you". The very next day he got Enlightenment..why?
The moment he totally surrenderd to God, and replace the word 'I ' with 'You'he was Blessed.....
This is my personal opinion. You may add your expert views to it.
    Thanks for sharing your insights.
    God bless you.

  8. Hi Surjit,

We often allow our view of the world to become dusty and dirty...

  11. Excellent analolgy, Surjit - spiritual realities never change, only our perception of them. Sometimes our filters do indeed need cleaning.

  12. Very very very much so, Surjit ! And knowing how to keep tem clean is such an important process throughout our lives... Sometimes mine get dusty and streaky - and then more work needs to be done. When I do it, it is such a nice result.....

  15. Yes Surjit, I agree with you. When my windows get dusty, I meditate and after that you can see more clearly and feel how wonderful this world is and you can see the beauty of things that you never saw before.

  16. Hi Surjit,
I agree with you that we mustn't allow the windows of our soul to get dirty in order not to lose sight of God.
