For Sale for $1.

Years ago, a lady in her mid 40s put up a sign outside her 3-storey Bungalow. The sign read :For Sale for $1

News spread like fire and soon a crowd was gathered outside, including the Media. Everyone stood outside the gate while the media went around interviewing spectators.

“How can it be possible?”, “This must be a prank”, “There's no free lunch in the world, this must be a scam!”, “I wonder which idiot will fall for this” etc.Everyone was extremely careful and did not want to be the laughing stock in front of the world. At this moment, a young boy stood up and opened the gate, attempting to go in.

“Stop! Don’t go in, boy! It’s a prank, the whole world’s watching, you’ll be a laughing stock if it happens!”, A man pulled on to the boy’s shoulder as he went in.“Well, IF it happens that is. I want this bungalow and it says $1 which I have, doesn’t matter if its a prank, I will take the risk.”, the boy replied innocently.

So the boy went pass the gate and opened the door and headed in. Inside, the lady owner was sitting down with a lawyer beside her.The lady asked, “Have you came to buy the house?”The young boy nodded.“Take a seat, and sign here and hand my lawyer the dollar.”The young boy shivering with excitement signed without a hesitation.“Ok done, this is your title deed to this house.”Shocked, the boy asked, “Ma’am, I sincerely thank you for this. But can I know why you are selling this huge house at only a dollar?”

The lady smiled and replied, “You see. My husband passed away and in his will he proposed that whatever this house sells for will go to his mistress. Since it isn’t my money, why would I want to sell the house at a high price for his mistress?!” The lady laughed as she left the house.

Be Open Minded and don’t restrict your thinking. Don’t be afraid to take risks. Sometimes in life, we have people discouraging what you want to do. Believe in yourself and walk on.

  6. Hi Surjit,

Many can be very optimistic especially when they could see good opportunities and good fortune. However, the problem comes when one start to think more. When we start to consider more of a situation, our pessimism start to creep in and fail us.

    Thanks for this interesting post!

    Best Wishes

  21. I think sometimes the biggest roadblock to our success lies in our head and our perception of what is possible...
