Divine Voice

"A Divine Voice is always in our hearts and always calling us.But we are not available. We are always engaged in ordinary things or unnecessary rubbish. So we go on missing the still voice within.

Once the thoughts disappear and the mind is silent, suddenly the voice is heard. And that is the beginning of transformation.

It is a revelation.God comes as a Revelation, never as a knowledge."

  1. Hi Surjit,

It is written in Matthew 12:35 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things."

Thus, we need to keep good care of our heart (spiritually) by feeding ourself with "spiritual food"

"The nearest thing to perpetual motion is the heart. Guard it well. When it stops, you stop." (physically)

    Thank you for this post!

  2. Hi surfit... very lovely post!

Yes it is up to us to listen, to hear, to silence our minds and hearts to accept what is God.

    Thanks for this...

  5. I very much enjoyed this post, especially the part about "we are always engaged in ordinary things or unnecessary rubbish, so we go on missing the still voice within" This part can be applied to so many different things in my life right now. I am trying very hard to weed out the unnecessary rubbish. Thank you for this post

  8. Ah, I see where you're coming from now (in regards to your comment on my blog). :) But we are not passive, and I do not think God intended us to be only passive. We are made in the image of the Creator, and so we also are gifted sacred creativity--the ability not only to be transformed, but to transform and create out of that sacred silence. As an artist and poet, there have been times when writing or performing my work that I have experienced the sacredness of Divine connection and inspiration. The Holy resides in silence and solitude and stillness, yes; but it is also dynamic and active and creative and living in the world of mindful action. I think we can experience and participate in the sacredness of God through action as well as stillness, if we bring to it that same mindfulness and openness that we cultivate in prayer and silence.

There is a Buddhist saying that I think rings true for this:

What do you do before enlightenment?
    Chop wood and carry water.
What do you do after enlightenment?
    Chop wood and carry water.

Just think--even writing this post, you are acting, you are creating, you are not sitting passively and doing nothing, but instead you are choosing to share the mindfulness that you have learned and the beauty you have experienced. :)

  9. Nice reminder on the need to quieten our hearts and our minds to listen to that still small voice which is so important in bringing peace. By being too busy in work and life, we neglect the more important things. I just attended a wake tonight and the message I get is very clear that we should focus on bringing balance to our life, especially spiritual balance.
